All PADI Instructors will benefit from taking specialty instructor training courses, especially those who are ready to step up to the Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) rating that requires at least five PADI Specialty Instructor certifications.

Requirements
To complete a PADI Specialty Instructor Diver Programme you must be:
- A PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor or higher
- At least 100 logged dives
- A medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months
- The minimum required time for this programme is 3 days
